Friends,
Last week the State Legislature adjourned the 2025 Session.
Democratic legislators passed a record number of bills for the minority party and we as engaged citizens helped beat several crank Republican policies!
Firstly, I want to thank you for your partnership this Legislative Session. Because you paid attention to local lawmakers, because you opened these emails, because you signed petitions, placed calls, and visited the Capitol.
The big wins we have to celebrate from this Session are because of you and your engagement.
Thank you.
Here's what OKDEMS was able to do with your help this Session:
* Your interest and engagement helped OKDEMS develop a robust system of Advocacy Alerts & Legislative Updates!
* Democrats in Oklahoma stood up with Tribal Nations, and helped defeat SB 675! That bill that would have allowed the OK Turnpike Authority to trample on the privacy, data, and sovereignty of Tribal members.
* Your sustained interest and pressure helped defeat SB 484, Lisa Standirdge's (R - Norman) bill to forbid almost every town in the State from building service programs for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
* You helped us and the Senate Democrats sound the alarm about SB 1027! Our work together gathered thousands of signatures from around the State!
* And when we called for your help, you showed up to make your voices heard!
While the fight against SB 1027 moves into the courts, Democrats did more than push back against rightwing policies.
We made Oklahoma a better state to live in!
* In the news this week, Oklahoma Democrats overrode Governor Kevin Stitt's veto of HB 1389! This bill, authored by House Democratic Caucus Leader-Elect Melissa Provenzano, puts Oklahomans ahead of profits for the insurance companies, and requires insurers to cover advanced screenings for breast cancer.
* Also overridden, Stitt's veto of HB 1137 by Freshman Rep. Ron Stewart! This law allows full state funding for the Office of Liaison for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons.
* House Democratic Leader Cyndi Munson passed HB 2235 which raises the compensation for Oklahomans wrongfully convicted to ensure our justice system prioritizes justice over jailing.
* While Republicans gear up for an assault on reproductive rights, Sen. Jo Anna Dossett passed SB 176 which makes it easier for women to get their prescribed contraceptives.
With a Senate Caucus of 8, and a House Caucus of 18 , Oklahoma's Elected Democrats punch far above their weight.
Oklahoma Democrats are fighting every day to build a better Oklahoma for all of us.
Finally, we have an update on our ticketed offerings at the State Convention!
These events are how we are building the know-how, the resilience, the community, and the war-chest to win big in 2026. Your attendance and support is the best way to engage with all your fellow Democrats in Oklahoma can offer, and to help kick start a blue wave!
The Carl Albert Dinner Awards Dinner has Sold Out! We are working tirelessly on expanding capacity, so if you didn't get your tickets please email
[email protected] for assistance.
We still have tickets available to the Fight Back Panel!
This in-depth discussion with local and national activists focuses on how each of us can make a difference in beating rightwing extremism today!
With experts on reproductive rights, climate justice, gun violence, and making good trouble -- this is the can't miss event if your doom scroll leaves you overwhelmed and unsure of what you can do.

Thank you for your partnership in making such a successful legislative session.
I hope you will continue to support this work and build the infrastructure and momentum to send fresh Democrats to the State House this year, and build for big victories in 2026!

Alicia Andrews
