Last year, disgusting sewage spilled into bathing waters 1,700 times - putting swimmers at risk. And those are just the spills water companies told us about!

Earlier this month, we took part in #BlackOutTuesday - a social media black out in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter [[link removed]] movement. When we made that statement, we were determined to follow it up with further action and support. The past few weeks have been a wake up call to us all, that we should do more to promote anti-racism and other inclusivity in our lives, our organisation and our work.

We recognise we should have done more in the past, and we are starting to take steps towards improving our understanding and planning a more inclusive future. Last week we held a roundtable discussion to hear reflections and ideas from across our team, and we saw a real energy and motivation to improve. We don’t have all the answers, and we won’t be making any knee-jerk responses, but we wanted to let you know that we are committed to learning and excited about improving SAS’s impact and reach.
