Hi John, it's Kirsty here from Surfers Against Sewage.

I’m reaching out because I know you care deeply about protecting our wild waters—just like I do—and I wanted you to know what we’re doing to fight back.

We’ve taken the first step toward 🚨legal action🚨 against DEFRA’s reckless plan to weaken protections for our seas, rivers and lakes.

Their proposed Bathing Water reforms could leave popular swim spots unmonitored and ignored if they're deemed "too polluted to protect."

We won't stand for this. 👊

What does this mean for us?

If DEFRA's proposed reforms go through, it means the places where we swim, surf, paddle and play, would be left off the map because they’re in crisis. Because no one wants to take responsibility for cleaning them up.

Let that sink in. It's completely unacceptable. 😡

What are we doing about it?

We've sent a pre-action protocol letter to DEFRA, demanding that they reconsider these regulations, and with the help of Leigh Day's law team, we're considering a judicial review.

That's right, we could be suing the government. Read the full story and our legal letter below. 👇

Thanks for your continued support.

It's for our wild waters. 🌊
