Team, that is a direct quote from the Republican frontrunner for Governor in Virginia, LG Winsome Earle-Sears, on a radio interview with Richmond’s Morning News, WRVA. But we want to make one thing abundantly clear:

Consenting to sex is NOT consenting to pregnancy.

She even waved off cases of rape and incest—suggesting that those pregnancies were somehow “choices,” too. This is who’s next in line for Governor.

This backward view is precisely why it’s so critical that we enshrine abortion rights into the state constitution. People deserve security and certainty in their ability to make personal health decisions without government interference. Protecting reproductive rights through a constitutional amendment is not just a political issue – it’s a moral imperative to safeguard freedom and dignity for all Virginians.

We cannot stress how critical this November’s elections will be. In the House of Delegates, we only have a one-seat majority in the Chamber. Plus, we currently have an anti-choice governor in office. Protecting access to abortion is not in the bag, but with you by our side, we know we can win.
