Hey John!

Last night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Josh reminded the world that beautiful western North Carolina is open for business this summer.

He also got the chance to thank Colbert personally — after Hurricane Helene, he took time during his show to highlight the devastation our state faced, and his viewers helped raise millions to go toward our relief efforts.

John, western NC’s recovery has proven that our communities are strong. We are resilient. But we’re also facing a new challenge that could undermine future efforts to build back after disaster.

FEMA’s support has been critical to helping our state get back on our feet. But that’s all on the line now.

The Trump Administration plans to make significant cuts to FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or even to eliminate it entirely. They’ve already fired many critical staff members who help keep Americans safe after storms. And they’ve forced state and local governments to take over disaster relief functions that are traditionally and best coordinated at the federal level.

Look, your neighborhood might not get hit by the next storm. Or the one after that. But storms are intensifying, and North Carolina WILL get hit again.

The scale of these storms is already massive. Eliminating FEMA would just be another disaster, but this time man-made.

Josh will continue to use every power at his disposal to do right by North Carolinians. He will continue speaking out and representing our best interests on the national stage, including opposing the Administration’s planned cuts to FEMA, Medicaid, and other programs our state relies on.

Governor Stein will work hard to make sure North Carolinians have what we need to thrive.
