Synthesis is a quick overview of our recent work, amplifying our partners' work, and sharing important environmental stories.
Happy Pride month! As you know, the fight for environmental justice is inextricably linked to the fight for racial justice, economic justice, and LGBTQIA+ justice. This Pride, join WCA and Queers 4 Conservation for various queer-led conservation events across the state. Check out upcoming events to join LGBTQIA+ people and allies in nature. [[link removed]]
June is Orca Action Month! This year's theme is Threads of Life: Connecting Orcas, People, and the Future We Share. Orca-lovers statewide, including WCA, are hosting events to inspire people to protect the beloved orca.
Southern Resident orcas are protected by the Endangered Species Act (ESA). This year, we are coming together to stop the iconic ESA from being gutted by Congress. Sign the petition to save the Endangered Species Act now. [[link removed]]
Governor Bob Ferguson signs HB 1670, the Sewage Spill Right-to-Know bill.
In May, Gov. Ferguson signed 2025 Environmental Priorities Coalition bills into law. We passed statewide recycling reform, made sewage spill information more accessible to the public, reaffirmed our state’s commitment to clean fuels and a transition to cleaner trucks, and created a fund to practice prescribed and cultural burning. Thank the environmental champions whose leadership were key to this success! [[link removed]]
For every election, WCA endorses state and local candidates who we expect to be environmental champions. We also endorse ballot measures that will protect people and nature as one. 2025 will bring elections in nine Washington state legislative districts – more than any odd year in the past decade. By voting in these races, you have an opportunity to elect leaders who will fight for environmental progress. Review our endorsements here. [[link removed]]
Is your voter registration up to date? We are nearing the primary election. To receive your ballot and to make sure your vote counts, double-check your voter registration details for accuracy. Have you recently moved or got your name changed? Review and update your voter registration here. [[link removed]]
