In a clear display of authoritarianism, Donald Trump wants to throw himself a birthday parade with tanks, missiles, and uniformed troops marching down Pennsylvania Avenue. Worst of all, he expects taxpayers to spend $45 million to fund it.
He’s targeting June 14th, his birthday and the Army’s anniversary, to stage a militarized spectacle straight out of a dictator’s playbook. This has nothing to do with honoring service. It’s about glorifying Trump. And unless Congress acts, our money pays for it.
That’s why Representative Steve Cohen has introduced H.R. 2761, the HAPPY BIRTHDAY Budget Act, to block federal funds from being used for this or any future presidential birthday parades. We need Congress to pass it now before a single street is shut down or a single tank deployed.
We stopped Trump’s Veterans Day parade in 2018 by making it politically toxic. Let’s do it again. Let’s kill this thing before it starts.

Let’s call this what it is, a militarized birthday bash for a man who’s already tried to overthrow our democracy once. We’re not footing the bill so Trump can play dictator for a day.
Every cent spent on this parade is a slap in the face to struggling veterans, underfunded schools, crumbling infrastructure, and working families fighting to stay afloat. Trump’s spectacle won’t honor the Army, it’ll mock every American who believes our military should serve the people, not a narcissist’s ego.
If Congress doesn't act, this sets a dangerous precedent that future presidents will use taxpayer dollars to stage pageants of personal power. That’s a red carpet rollout for autocracy.
The line must be drawn here. We can honor our military with integrity, not with tanks, jets, and $45 million blown on birthday candles for a wannabe tyrant.
