I’m outraged at this deeply troubling incident where Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents forcefully entered my Congressional office and handcuffed a member of my staff.

DHS is getting more and more aggressive – and President Trump is encouraging it. They are pushing past and disregarding the proper legal boundaries – and this is not the first time. From Representative McIver being charged for conducting congressional authorized oversight of an ICE facility in New Jersey to other invasive incidents, this is happening across the nation.

If this can happen in a Member of Congress’s office, it can happen to anyone – and it is happening.

I won’t be intimated or silenced. I’m standing up against these dangerous and unconstitutional tactics and demanding that Donald Trump and the Department of Homeland Security stop this ongoing abuse of power, but I need you by my side. Will you stand with me by donating $10 or any amount in this critical moment?

Trump and DHS don't respect Congress, despite being a co-equal branch of government. You need a warrant to go into an office, including a congressional office, but they didn't have one – still they continued their aggressive and heavy-handed tactics and once again ignored legal boundaries.

Our staff was there protecting our constituents, but Trump and his department were angry that we were simply doing our job. As a senior member of the Judiciary Committee and a leader in the House, I know they’ll keep coming after me to try to instill fear.

This out of control DHS is empowered by Trump. They’re sowing chaos in our communities, using intimidation tactics against both citizens and non-citizens in a reckless and dangerous matter – and I won’t stand for it.

I’m outraged that my staffer was handcuffed by DHS, but that is just the beginning of their thuggish, alarming tactics. I won’t back down, but I need your support. Will you chip in $10 or whatever you can to help me fight back?
