Last week, CT Democrats advanced HB 5002, an omnibus housing bill that strips away local control of zoning and imposes drastic unfunded mandates on our towns. All of the Republicans and seventeen Democrats voted against it. The final vote was 84-67.

State Rep. Joe Zullo (R-East Haven) described the bill as “one of the largest grabs at local control that I’ve seen in my career as a legislator.”

House Republicans urge Gov. Lamont to veto HB 7259

HB 7259 expanded Connecticut's Trust Act, which restricts law enforcement's ability to communicate with federal law enforcement and expedite deportations of criminals, was expanded to allow illegal aliens to sue cities & towns.

CT House Republicans sent a letter to the Governor urging him to veto the bill.

Homeland Security puts Connecticut on list of jurisdictions that ‘undermine the rule of law’

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security put Connecticut on a list of jurisdictions it claims are obstructing immigration laws. The list said Connecticut self-identified as a state sanctuary jurisdiction. It specifically listed the cities of East Haven, Hamden, Hartford, New Haven, New London, and Windham.

CT House unanimously passes bill boosting support, oversight for special education

The House of Representatives unanimously passed a bill Thursday increasing regulation and oversight of private special education providers while also providing funds to encourage districts to develop their own in-house programs.
