I’m writing to ask you to make a contribution toward my re-election campaign so we can keep CA-49 blue. I have to be honest, it's hard asking at a time like this, but this is a really big moment for our campaign. Let me explain what I mean:

Last week, the Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee confirmed that the GOP is aiming for a minimum of "25 pickups" in their bid to retake the House. That number means their pathway to the majority cuts through California, and it lands right in our district.

Midnight tonight also marks our mid-month fundraising deadline, and we're still coming up short of our fundraising goal. Part of the reason we are short is because I've been so laser-focused on legislative work in Washington. But we've also had to cut out all in-person fundraisers which has made online contributions all-the-more important.

My self-funding opponent -- who is backed by the likes of Kevin McCarthy and Darrell Issa -- has proven himself willing to inject millions into his campaign coffers. Our campaign needs to have resources available to defend against sudden attacks. In fact, we're expecting them.
