John,
The tragic events of the last few weeks have led us as a country
to reexamine ourselves and what we stand for. Given the pandemic
of police violence that is plaguing Black Americans yet again,
it’s time we institute meaningful change in our communities.
That’s why I joined Rep. Rashida
Tlaib and the Movement for Black Lives in calling for immediate
divestments from police and instead defending our communities
through meaningful investments. Will you join us?

Here are our demands:
* We demand an end to the war against Black people.
* We demand an investment in Black communities.
* We demand repair for past and continuing harms.
* We demand immediate relief for our communities.
* We demand economic justice for all our people.
* We demand the rights of protestors be respected.
* We demand community control.
These demands are essential if we are to turn the tides of
injustice and take back power in our own lives. There is no need
to be increasing police budgets by the millions -- not when
they’ve proven to be so dangerously ineffective at protecting our
communities.
Our priority should be providing
resources to where they're needed most -- directly into the hands
of our communities. Add your name if you agree that it’s time we
invest in the right places to defend our communities.
