Joe Biden has a lot of Democrats who are eager to work with him. But when it was time to speak out against Donald Trump’s xenophobia, Biden knew one battle-tested progressive was better equipped than any other to join him: U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth.
In a joint op-ed published by NBC News, Biden and Duckworth condemned Trump’s “encouragement of racism against Asian Americans,” pointing to how the president has embraced bigotry with his dangerous comments and repeated use of the phrase “Chinese virus.”
Ultimately, the two Democrats praised the AAPI community for their service to the country -- as soldiers, educators, health care workers, and Americans -- and called on everyone to join them in their support for unity and condemnation of hate.
