The legislature asked for ideas to address the sign language interpreter shortage in Washington. We partnered with people all over Washington to come up with six recommendations to tackle the shortage head-on:


* Build a community group to provide advice and innovate ongoing improvements.
* Create a new registry to list interpreters.
* Pass a law requiring interpreters to join the registry.
* Host a yearly conference to support interpreters.
* Offer financial help with testing fees for interpreters.
* Launch a program to support marginalized groups in the Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing communities.
