At a Demand Justice press conference, Senator Richard Blumenthal announced
that he plans to put a hold on Donald Trump’s judicial nominees.
This is what we’ve been urging Senate Democrats to do since Trump came
back into office: use every procedural tool available to stop this wannabe
dictator from stacking the bench with MAGA loyalists.
This administration has repeatedly shown open contempt for the rule of
law: Trump has ignored court orders, completely disregarded the
Constitution, and is exploring ways to stop the judiciary from checking
his authoritarian power grabs – including nominating judges personally
loyal to him.
Alarmingly, some Democrats seemed open to working with him to confirm his
judges even after everything we’ve seen. That’s unacceptable.
We’re thankful for Senator Blumenthal’s leadership, but we need to make
sure every member of the Senate hears us loud and clear: no approval for
Trump’s judicial nominees.
