We have patiently awaited the arrival of a new hospital for Ward 8, and it seems that we have a new deal on the table. Mayor Muriel Bowser submitted an agreement to the DC Council for GW Health Hospital and Ambulatory Pavilion located at St. Elizabeths East, near the Congress Heights Metro and the Entertainment and Sports Arena.

"The new, state-of-the-art, 136 community hospital with a verified trauma center, will look, feel, and function much like Johns Hopkins and Sibley Memorial Hospitals," stated the teleconference invitation. 

The new agreement ensures an array of health and specialty services for residents of Wards 7 and 8 and will include, but not limited to:

• Trauma care center
• Newborn deliveries and maternal health services
• Orthopedic, cardiac and hypertension, cancer, kidney, rehabilitation, general surgery and;
• Mental health services.

Renters are encouraged, to the best of their ability, to stay current on rent. Rent increases are also prohibited during the COVID-19 public health emergency plus 60 days.
