Stand Up Republic

Hi John,

For weeks, we have seen protesters in the streets making their voices heard. They are standing up for racial equality, standing up against police brutality, and standing up to say, Black Lives Matter.

This Friday is Juneteenth. A holiday that celebrates freedom and the end of slavery. The holiday commemorates June 19, 1865 when Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger issued an order in Galveston Texas freeing all slaves. While the Emancipation Proclamation was issued two years earlier by President Lincoln, it did not set all slaves free. Juneteenth, also known as Jubilee Day and Freedom Day, is celebrated by many as the day in which all slaves were freed.

This Juneteenth (Friday), millions of people across the country will commemorate the day by exercising their right to peacefully assemble and to stand against racial injustice.

Can we count on you to join us in DC as we stand up together for racial equality?
