While the Job Corps program has not been perfect, it has trained millions of individuals who have gone on to secure jobs in high-demand industries and trades. The Paul Simon Center has been a real asset to the Chicagoland community. We implore President Donald Trump and the US Department of Labor to reconsider this program and retain its effective components, allowing some individuals to continue benefiting.
If, for whatever reason, the federal government cannot or will not keep it going, then I would hope that the State of Illinois would be able to step in and keep it going. I am aware that the State of Illinois is facing budget challenges, but I also recognize that the Paul Simon Job Corp Center has been beneficial to our community.
