Roger Williams is making national headlines today for all of the wrong reasons, Team.
In case you missed it: Congress created the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) to keep small businesses and their employees afloat through the COVID-19 pandemic. And instead of doing everything in his power to make sure constituents received these much-needed funds, incumbent Congressman Roger Williams — one of the richest members of Congress — appears to have used his position of influence to get himself a forgivable PPP loan of an undisclosed amount for his car dealership in Weatherford, Texas.
It gets worse: Roger Williams voted against the bipartisan TRUTH Act, which would make the PPP program more transparent to taxpayers. That's unacceptable.
We need someone in Congress willing to go to the mat for our neighbors like Julie, not career politicians who are only there to reward special interests and themselves. Will you chip in $5 or more toward the movement that's going to defeat Roger Williams in November? >> [link removed]
For too long, privileged politicians have abused their power at the expense of people like us. That ends now. We must demand accountability from our leaders — and that starts with electing people who will fight for it.
Our momentum is growing, all thanks to supporters like you and the growing dissatisfaction over Roger Williams' failure to meet this moment. But we can't get complacent. When you have special interest donors and millions of dollars in personal wealth to count on, it doesn't take much to rewrite history.
And with less than five months to go until Election Day, it's critical we make sure as many voters as possible have the chance to get to know Julie and that they learn why Roger Williams has to go.
Chip in $5 today to replace Roger Williams packing. Together, we can send a strong message that members of Congress who serve themselves — not people — don't deserve to represent us. >> [link removed]
Thanks for chipping in,
Team Julie
