The database would compile Americans’ private information, scraped from various government agencies, that could be used to track or persecute them. It would hold hundreds of data points on citizens, including bank account numbers, amount of student debt, medical claims, disability status, etc.
Palantir, the company Trump is paying hundreds of millions of dollars to develop the new database, was founded by MAGA ultra-donor Peter Thiel. Thiel himself is a terrifying figure, who has openly embraced Curtis Yarvin’s “Dark Enlightenment” ideology - a belief that Democracy does not work and should be replaced with a techno-fascist state where the government is run like a corporation, with the president as its “CEO.”
