Animal Outlook's latest investigation has revealed that Darling Ingredients—one of the world's largest producers of animal ingredients—does business with Manning Beef, a slaughterhouse with one of the worst animal welfare records in the country.
What we uncovered at Manning Beef is horrific:
Multiple cows being butchered while showing signs of sensibility to pain
Animals being shocked repeatedly with electric prods
Workers stabbing cows in the head and throat
Multiple failed attempts to render animals unconscious before slaughter
This facility has racked up 61 humane handling violations in just six years, including starving animals, excessive shocking, and beating animals in the face. The USDA suspended them in 2020 and again in 2022, yet they continue to operate—and Darling Ingredients continues to work with them.
