John,

Yesterday, we received major news from the Supreme Court -- their ruling against LGBTQ discrimination in the workplace is a major step forward in the fight for equality.

This is an important milestone, and a victory that we should all celebrate. But, we still have a ways to go before we can rest easy in this fight. Just last week, we saw the Trump administration attack the LGBTQ community’s access to healthcare.

We can’t continue to rely on an unbalanced Supreme Court to adjudicate our rights -- what we need is broad, strong legislation like the Equality Act to guarantee equal rights under the law for the LGBTQ community.

In Congress, I’ll vote the Equality Act into law, but in the meantime, I’ve started a petition calling on the Senate to pass this legislation without delay. Will you sign on today?

Once passed, the Equality Act would deliver comprehensive protections against discrimination in essential areas of life, from housing and education to employment and jury service.

As we’ve seen from the Trump administration’s willingness to mount repeated attacks on LGBTQ rights, the Equality Act simply can’t wait. That’s why I’m urging Congress to expedite the process of passing this indispensable bill.

We’re trying to collect as many signatures as we can. Will you add your name?

Thanks for standing with me,

Chris
