Dear Friends,

June Torture Awareness Month is upon us, and as is our tradition each year, the National Religious Campaign Against Torture is launching a month-long fundraising campaign inviting your financial support. Your donations make possible our vital interfaith campaigns to end torture in U.S. policy, practice and culture nationwide.

This year, our Torture Awareness Month theme is Living Our Values. At a time in our nation’s history and the world when injustice abounds, NRCAT is drawing on the best of our religious traditions to write another story – one of hope, second chances, resistance and community.

We invite you to support us with a donation today!

Last week, NRCAT staff joined 500 grassroots activists in Chicago from over 150 organizations who, like us, are working to end mass incarceration and torture. Next week, we will march to the U.S. Capitol with local and national faith leaders in Washington D.C. to call for the U.S. Senate to courageously reject one of the most immoral and vindictive federal budgets in memory.

Our values remind us that we were built for this moment. Your donation enables NRCAT to organize faith community vigils at jails and local detention centers, support masjids, synagogues, temples and churches to host a screening and discussion with a NRCAT film, resource a clergyperson to testify at a legislative hearing, and so much more.

Let’s be honest. This is a tough fundraising environment for nonprofit organizations. But year after year, your financial contribution and the valuable contribution of your time to NRCAT’s work is what has made these examples of Living Our Values possible. This month, each donation to NRCAT will be doubled up to $30,000, thanks to the generosity of two of our donors.

Thanks for all you do,

The NRCAT Team

P.S. NRCAT has launched a new NRCAT store so you can “wear your values.” Check out our new NRCAT store today, and order your gear.
