** Spirit & Liberation: Marking Juneteenth and Pentecost
------------------------------------------------------------
June invites us into powerful moments of remembrance and renewal. As we mark Pentecost, we recall the Spirit’s arrival—birthing a new community marked by courage, unity, and holy imagination. We also honor Juneteenth, commemorating the delayed yet powerful declaration of freedom for enslaved African Americans. Both moments invite us to reflect on liberation, justice, and the sacred work of building brave, Spirit-filled spaces. In this edition of Brave Spaces, we celebrate how communities are embodying hope, disrupting injustice, and making room for healing and wholeness. May the Spirit guide us deeper into truth and freedom in the days ahead.

** Cohort 3 Applications Now Open!
------------------------------------------------------------
Applications are now open for our third Sustaining Women in Ministry Cohort. At the heart of Missio Alliance is a commitment to champion the callings of women faithfully serving God’s Kingdom, and we're excited to announce the next 6-month cohort beginning September 2025.
This cohort is designed for women leading in full-time or part-time ministry—whether in the church, nonprofit settings, or community. It’s especially valuable for those who often find themselves serving alone and would benefit from both professional development and a network of like-minded women leaders.
Applications are now open and due by August 1, 2025.
Spots are limited to 10 and open to women of all ages.

Free-ish: The Here-But-Not-Yet Reality of Racial Justice ([link removed]) | Rich Villodas
"If we accept that in this age, there will always be work to do in unmasking and resisting racial sin in all its forms, no amount of social progress will deter us. We will continue to engage the issues because the age to come promised by Jesus has not yet arrived." Read More ([link removed])
Origin Stories Matter: On Juneteenth ([link removed]) | Natasha Sistrunk Robinson
"Herein lies the tension of the history of the United States: how the story is told is based on who has the authority to tell the story. What do the storytellers want you to believe about themselves and the spaces they occupy in relation to the “other” or outsiders?” Read More ([link removed])

Listening to Black Voices Experiencing Oppression ([link removed]) | Dennis Edwards
"The prophetic call for justice arises from the voices of those experiencing oppression. This is to say that while cries for peace, freedom, dignity, and equality might come from those who advocate for oppressed people, the most poignant message resounds from the downtrodden themselves." ** Mid-Year Examen
------------------------------------------------------------
As we reach the year’s midpoint, pause to reflect with intention. Set aside a quiet moment and ask: Where have I sensed God’s presence in these past six months? Where have I experienced resistance, fatigue, or joy? What am I being invited to release? What is emerging that needs nurturing? Let gratitude rise—and let grief speak, too. This is a moment to reorient, to listen deeply, and to respond with courage. May this examen open you to the Spirit’s ongoing work in you and through you as you lead, love, and serve in this unfolding season.
