Dear Friend,
Good afternoon, and welcome to our
Weekend Update.
It was great to be in Steel City with President Trump,
celebrating the historic US Steel-Nippon Steel Deal. This partnership
is very important for our economy, citizens, and national
security.
US Steel will remain in Pittsburgh, grow in Western PA, and the
Mon Valley, and remain an American company!
This was a day to celebrate a win for Pennsylvania, our
citizens, our steelworkers, Pittsburgh, and the United States
of America. Click
here or below to watch my remarks.

President Trump gave an inspiring speech
about American strength, the importance of domestic manufacturing, and
the value of the American worker. He is Making America Great Again. Click
here or below to watch.

At the Friday celebration, I was joined
by Union leaders Jack Maskil and Jason Zugai, the Mayor of West
Mifflin Township, Chris Kelly, President of the Pennsylvania State
Senate, Kim Ward, PA GOP Chairman, PA GOP Chair and State Senator Greg
Rothman, Congressmen Mike Kelly, Guy Reshenthaler, and Pete Stauber,
Steeler Great Rocky Bleier and thousands of our closest friends
celebrating the future of US Steel in Steel City USA!

This US Steel-Nippon Steel partnership truly is historic. Nothing
of this size has ever been done, and the prosperity it brings will be shared
for generations. This is a win for our
citizens, steelworkers, Pennsylvania, and America.
Thank you to my colleagues in Congress and all of the business
and community leaders who worked hard to achieve this deal.
And very special thanks to Dave Burritt, President and CEO of US
Steel, Takeshita Mori, Vice Chairman of Nippon Steel, and of course,
the ‘Man of Steel’ himself, President Donald Trump.
Before the rally, I conducted an
interview on “Making Monday with Charles Payne” on Fox Business
from US Steel in Mon Valley. We were there to celebrate a
significant milestone for American industry. The U.S. Steel–Nippon
Steel investment is about expanding opportunities for steelworkers,
American steel dominance, and securing good-paying jobs. This is a
historic achievement and a big win for Pennsylvania. Click
here or below to watch.

On Thursday evening, I joined leaders
from the commonwealth in Pittsburgh to celebrate the strategic
partnership between US Steel and Nippon Steel.

On Tuesday, I joined “Mornings with
Maria” on Fox Business to discuss several topics, including
the U.S. Steel deal, the passing of the Big Beautiful Bill Act, and
much more. First, the Biden-era regulatory approach hurt
America's financial system. President Trump has made decisive
leadership changes to get the economy back on track. Appointing and
confirming Michelle Bowman, Jonathan Gould, Travis Hill, and Paul
Atkins will get our banking and capital markets back moving in the
right direction. Click
here or below to watch this segment:

Additionally, we discussed a $14 BILLION
investment in U.S. Manufacturing and 70,000 new family-sustaining jobs
with President Trump's U.S. Steel Deal and the great opportunities it
creates for Pennsylvania and our country. Click
here or below to watch this segment:

Finally, we discussed the passage of the
Big Beautiful Bill Act. Click
here or below to watch.

On Wednesday morning, I appeared on
“Varney & Co.” on Fox Business to discuss Democrats'
fear-mongering on common-sense Medicaid reform.
The Big Beautiful Bill saves money for
American families while strengthening Medicaid for our most
vulnerable—seniors, children, people with disabilities, and legal
residents—by ensuring no funds go to ineligible recipients.
President Trump's plan to lower
prescription drug costs could also save an additional $1 trillion over
the next decade.
The BBB provides a solid framework, but
we must continue to build on this important first step. Click
here or below to watch.

Later, I joined Laura Ingraham on “The
Ingraham Angle” on Fox News to discuss the US Steel deal.

On Friday, President Trump noted that
while Elon Musk’s time as a special employee is closing, the DOGE work
will continue. I look forward to building on the $170 billion in
savings already achieved. We thank Elon for his tireless work,
dedication, and sacrifices to our nation. As a member of the DOGE
Caucus, I had the opportunity to work with him and his team on efforts
to trim government waste. Take a look at the chart below to see just
some of the savings DOGE discovered:

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE
MAINSTREAM MEDIA: “WOW”: Inflation eases, incomes rise, trade
deficit plummets.
“This is a GREAT four-month start
to any year,” exclaimed CNBC’s
Rick Santelli as brand new economic indicators show inflation is down,
incomes are up, and the trade deficit is narrowing — shattering
economists’ expectations once again.
-
INFLATION IS DOWN: “Inflation rate slipped to 2.1% in
April, lower than expected, Fed’s preferred gauge shows,” CNBC
reports.
-
INCOME IS UP: Personal income increased 0.8%
in April — “almost TRIPLE the expectations.” “They’re powerful numbers
— up 0.6% in January, up 0.7% in February, up 0.5% last month, up 0.8%
this month. This is a GREAT four-month start to any year.”
-
CNBC:
“The income numbers, really, for the first four months of year —
they’re stellar … Why don’t we give credit where credit is due? Income
really shooting up.”
-
TRADE DEFICIT NARROWS: It was the largest
monthly decline in the trade deficit on record.
-
CNBC:
“We cut it in HALF!? … This really does underscore how the movement of
goods and services has really changed due to a variety of
tariff-related issues.”
As President Trump tames
inflation, lowers
gas prices, equalizes trade,
and secures
historic investments,
Americans are feeling the results of the new Golden Age.
- Consumer confidence surged in
May with the biggest monthly
jump in four years, according to the Consumer
Confidence Index — far surpassing economists’
expectations.
-
Bloomberg:
“A gauge of consumer expectations for the next six months surged by
the most since 2011, while a measure of present conditions climbed as
well, data released Tuesday showed. The improvement in confidence was
broad across age and income groups as well as political
affiliations.”
- A majority of Americans say the
country is on the right track for the first time in decades, according
to new
polling — while the RealClearPolitics polling
average for the direction of the country is at its most favorable
since May 2021.
On Monday, we celebrated Memorial Day at
home in our communities, remembering and honoring those who sacrificed
so much.
Thank you to Tunkhannock and Dallas for
hosting such fitting tributes. It was great to connect with so many
patriotic families and hear the stories of the heroes we have lost but
will never forget.

I enjoyed a productive afternoon on
Tuesday with the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce. We had an important
discussion about tariffs and trade and how these policies affect
everyday businesses in Schuylkill County.
We must keep these lines of communication
open to ensure our local economy thrives.
Thanks to the Chamber for hosting and
Schuylkill County Commissioners: Gary Hess, Larry Padora, and Boots
Hetherington, State Rep. Jamie Barton, State Senator Dave Argall,
Chamber President, Bob Carl, Ed Winkelbauer, Chamber Government
Affairs committee chairman and all of the local business owners who
participated.

I attended the Lebanon Valley Chamber of
Commerce’s Chamber Roundtable on Thursday. We had a great conversation
with local business leaders about their priorities, how we can improve
access to capital, and what I’m working on in Washington. It is always
valuable to hear directly from our business community and learn how
to strengthen Main Street better.
I was joined by: Sheilah Borne, Vice
President, Government Relations-Penn State Health, Lori Brandt, Vice
President-Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce, Sherry Capello,
Mayor-City of Lebanon, State Representative Russ Diamond, Karen Groh,
President & CEO-Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce, Michael Kuhn,
County Commissioner-County of Lebanon, Lori Maley, President/CEO- Bank
of Bird-In-Hand, Robert Phillips, County Commissioner-County of
Lebanon, and John Schlegel, State House Rep 101st District.

Afterward, I had a fantastic tour of
Downtown Lebanon, connecting with incredible local businesses that
truly embody our community’s spirit!
Thanks to Janelle at Queen’s Natural
Market for showcasing their exceptional health food offerings and to
Melody Vincent at Lebanon Picture Frames and Fine Arts Gallery for
sharing insights on the local art scene and preserving cherished
memories.
I appreciated the conversation with
Audrey Heagy and Dave Hopkins at Spherion Staffing Services about
their vital work connecting job seekers with opportunities in our
region.
These businesses are the heart of our
local economy, and I am committed to supporting them and all small
businesses in Congress.

Finally, I want to express my condolences
to Bernie Kerik, former NYPD Commissioner, who passed away earlier
this week. His leadership through 9/11 inspired us all. My dad, an
NYPD Detective, worked alongside him in the recovery efforts, and I’ll
never forget our hour-long chat at the most recent Butler rally. He
was the real deal—a true patriot. Rest in peace, Commissioner.

Lastly, I wanted to update you on some
news President Trump made at the rally related to my future. He
encouraged me to run for Governor of our great Commonwealth, something
I have been seriously considering since last year's historic election
victories. Click
here or below to watch his remarks.

Pennsylvania needs new leadership and
someone who will work to get things done for the Commonwealth. One
must look no further than the amazing deal that President Trump just
accomplished to resurrect the US Steel deal and deliver a much-needed
victory for Pennsylvania. Remember, President Trump resurrected this
deal after the Biden administration ran it into the ground. We need
bold leadership in Harrisburg. We need a governor who will work to
streamline government, seek to reduce taxes and remove unnecessary
regulations, and look to grow our economy, not the government
bureaucracy. We need a governor who will work with our leaders in
Washington, not just file lawsuits against them. We need to
emulate winning states, like Florida, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee,
Indiana, and states with strong Republican leadership—the states
where, frankly, too many of our fellow Pennsylvanians are fleeing to.
I am giving this endeavor careful thought and prayer. As always, I
will keep you in the loop, as you are some of my closest
supporters.
May God continue to bless our nation. I
look forward to seeing you soon,

Dan
