As Bernie Sanders always says, our budget is a moral document — but the monstrous budget bill that the Republican Party just passed in Congress is entirely devoid of anything we would recognize as “moral.”

To pay for their enormous tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans — the top 20% of income gets 68% of the benefits from the House Republican tax bill — the GOP wants to cut $715 billion from Medicaid, which would kick a staggering 8.6 million Americans off their health insurance, according to the CBO. It would cut $300 BILLION from SNAP, taking food out of the mouths of nearly 2 million American children.

Call your Senator and tell them to vote NO on the GOP budget bill!

As if all that wasn't bad enough, the bill would increase eligibility checks and impose work requirements for Medicaid recipients, forcing them to endure needless paperwork, endless petty humiliations, and further burdening America's most vulnerable people.

It would inflict hardship and suffering on millions and millions of Americans so that the very richest, who already have more money that one could possibly spend in a lifetime, can get even richer. It’s a moral abomination, and we must use every tool that we have to pressure the Senate into preventing this catastrophic bill from becoming a grim reality for hard-working American families.
