Pierce was a happy, energetic little boy — until he got an infection that wouldn’t go away. When antibiotics failed, his mom, Aubrey, pushed for answers. The diagnosis was every parent’s worst nightmare. Leukemia. His diagnosis changed everything — and so did his wish.
We’re sharing Pierce’s story with you because today is National Cancer Survivors Day. Cancer is the most common condition wish kids are fighting — but a medical turning point can come in the form of a wish.
A wish that starts with your support today. |
“Make-A-Wish® reminded us of the deliberate choice to have fun, to be positive, to look forward to something.”
— Pierce’s Mom, Aubrey |
After his diagnosis, Pierce spent the next 118 days in the hospital undergoing nearly 20 surgeries, more than a dozen blood transfusions and a bone marrow transplant. His mom, Aubrey, was there by his side every day.
The traumatic stress of Pierce’s medical journey rippled through the entire family.
That’s when — thanks to your help — Make-A-Wish stepped in. Pierce got to take a break from treatment to be a kid again and visit his favorite theme park. His wish gave him the hope and strength to continue fighting his critical illness. |
Now’s your chance to help grant even more wishes like Pierce’s. See just how important your support is to making wishes come true.
Every 20 minutes, another child like Pierce is diagnosed with a critical illness like cancer. Join us today with a gift and help take a child off the waiting list, giving them the strength, hope and joy of a wish.
Wishfully,
Make-A-Wish |
