Save the Children Action Network is the political voice for kids. 

The president is proposing deeper cuts to critical programs – from foreign aid to school meals to early learning. Tell Congress: To invest in America, we must invest in kids!

The White House just released its budget request for next year, and I read through it so you don’t have to.  

Here’s what worries me most for children:  

• Deep cuts to humanitarian assistance – threatening the lives of kids desperate for support in Sudan, Myanmar, the Congo and other crisis zones   
• Major reductions in global health funding – jeopardizing vaccines, prenatal care and treatment for HIV/AIDs and tuberculosis 
• Elimination of development assistance – wiping out programs that help children and families thrive without depending on foreign aid  
• Elimination of essential global food programs – taking school meals away from food-insecure children   
• Consolidating and slashing education funding – providing less than one-third of current funding levels for specialized programs ranging from literacy assistance to student health and safety 
• Slashing early education support in America – ending grants that let states expand preschool and help parents afford child care while working toward a degree  

Now for the good news: Congress has the final say. They can pass a budget that puts children first… but they need to feel the pressure from constituents like YOU. 

John, these proposed funding cuts risk undoing decades of progress for children and families.  

If passed, they’d decimate programs that helped decrease child deaths by 55% since 2000. 

Rip away support from families facing hunger, poverty and conflict.  

Create more disease, death and despair for children.  

This is NOT the path forward – and Congress knows it. Urge your lawmakers to invest in America by investing in kids!
