Brian Tyler Cohen interviewed Democratic Rep. Daniel Goldman to discuss a deeply unsettling development taking place outside his district office in New York this week. Plainclothes ICE officers have been seen detaining immigrants in the lobby of his Manhattan office — wearing masks to hide their identity — as they leave the federal court housed in the same building. Goldman confronted the officers on Thursday and released a statement explaining his actions which read: "For the past several days in New York’s 10th Congressional District in Lower Manhattan, masked, plain-clothes Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have been stationed in the lobby of the federal building that houses immigration court in order to arrest immigrants coming out of court so they can be deported on an expedited basis. These arrests are part of a coordinated effort within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) where DHS lawyers move to dismiss deportation proceedings against these immigrants — most of whom do not speak English nor have legal representation — in order to place them in a different, "expedited" deportation proceeding." The statement concluded with a timely reminder: "We are a nation of immigrants, founded by successive waves of people from across the world seeking the American dream and the promise it offers. These egregious, authoritarian tactics by the Trump administration stand in stark contrast to our values as a nation, founded upon the rule of law and due process for all." Donald Trump announced on Thursday night the nomination of Paul Ingrassia, a former far-right podcaster and conspiracy theorist, to be the next head of the Office of Special Counsel (OSC) — an independent ethics watchdog empowered to protect federal employees and whistleblowers. Ingrassia, who just turned 30, currently serves as the White House liaison to the Department of Homeland Security and will replace Hampton Dellinger at OSC, who sued to keep his job after being fired by Trump in February. Before joining the second Trump administration, Ingrassia was best known as a MAGA world pundit who hosted a podcast called Right on Point and often wrote articles for the Gateway Pundit — including a January 2024 "birther" article baselessly arguing Nikki Haley was ineligible to be president, given that her parents were immigrants. Oh, he also has ties to multiple antisemitic extremists. Neat!

The Supreme Court on Friday granted the Trump administration's request to categorically revoke humanitarian parole for more than 530,000 immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela and order them out of the country. The court did not explain its order staying a lower court decision that temporarily blocked the administration's abrupt policy change. Justices Ketanji Brown Jackson and Sonia Sotomayor dissented. ICE finally releases health worker arrested at airport and jailed for 3 months despite living in the US legally for 50 years
After three months in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody, Lewelyn Dixon — a 64-year-old University of Washington lab technician and green card holder from the Philippines who has lived LEGALLY in the United States for 50 years — has finally gone home. Outside the detention facility, Dixon thanked a crowd of supporters and spoke about her experience and the conditions in the facility. "It was horrific; it was awful, it is crowded — super crowded, they release maybe nine, bring back seven, release one, they bring three.” Dixon said. Benjamin Osorio, Dixon’s attorney, previously told NBC News that an embezzlement conviction in 2000 for removing $6,460 in cash from a bank vault without authorization — for which she spent 30 days in a halfway house decades ago and long since completed restitution payments — likely caught the attention of US Customs and Border Protection at the airport, triggering her unwarranted detention.
