Act

Dear PFAW Member,

Did you see the news yesterday? The Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 decision
that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects people from
workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender
identity. This is an enormous victory for LGBTQ equality.

[ [link removed] ]As we celebrate this milestone ruling, there is still important work to
be done. Urge the Senate to pass the Equality Act to keep this
momentum moving>>

While it is nearly unbelievable that Trump judge Neil Gorsuch followed the
law in penning this decision, which makes it illegal for employers to
discriminate against employees on the basis of their sexual orientation
and gender identity, our work to ensure that LGBTQ people are protected
from discrimination is not over. The Equality Act will write protections
from discrimination on the bases of sexual orientation and gender identity
in education, employment, health care, housing, and public accommodations
into federal law.

Currently, crossing a state border can drastically change which laws
protect LGBTQ people from discrimination. Twenty-six states have no laws
that forbid businesses from refusing service, denying entry to, or
otherwise discriminating against members of the public based on their
sexual orientation or gender identity. Only 13 states have laws that
forbid health care discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender
identity. Every American should live free from discrimination.

[ [link removed] ]Add your name to urge the Senate to advance the Equality Act. It's been
over a year since it passed in the House and it is time for equality for
all.>>

Thank you for your advocacy. Wishing you and your family health and
safety!

In community,

Charlie, PFAW
