John,
We're writing with heavy hearts today, but also with enormous gratitude.
Last Thursday, our founder, Steve Chapman, passed away, and it's been a gut punch for our entire team.
Steve was more than the captain of this ship; he was a friend, a gracious leader, and a man who believed deeply in the power of people coming together to make a difference.
Steve was also probably a lot like you. A devoted family man, he spent most of his life outside the political world – though he always paid close attention to it. But after the 2016 election, Steve knew he couldn’t stay on the sidelines any longer. He threw himself into learning how campaigns actually operate, dug into the reality of how campaigns use donations, and asked the tough questions most people don’t. Then, drawing on his business expertise, Steve founded GOTV PAC to make grassroots giving more efficient, more strategic, and more impactful so we could help Democrats win where it matters most.
That's why we run lean, cost-effective voter outreach programs through independent phone banks and make early investments in the most competitive (and often overlooked) districts where every vote can make a difference.
Steve was a good man. He was sharp, kind, and principled, and we're going to miss him more than we can say.
However, we are not packing up. We're honoring Steve the way we know he'd want: by continuing his work and mission.
So, if you'd like to donate in Steve's memory, we would be deeply grateful. We've got upcoming elections in San Antonio and Virginia next month, and we know Steve wouldn’t want us to let up.
