MMJ Training
*Attention Medical Cannabis Authorizers*

The Medical Cannabis Program is excited to roll out training sessions for the new Medical Cannabis Registry and we want to make it easy for you to attend. This system has features and functionality that can help support medical cannabis patients and healthcare providers.  

To accommodate everyone’s schedule, we’re offering multiple virtual training sessions — you only need to attend one (1). Training Sessions Available: These sessions will remain open for admission for the first 15 minutes of the session.

opioid
*Opioid Prescribing for Physician Assistants and Allopathic Physicians*

A CR-101, Preproposal Statement of Inquiry, was filed on April 30, 2025, as WSR #25-10-039 [ [link removed] ]. The WMC is considering amending the following opioid prescribing rules to modernize the language, add clarity, and bring the rules more in line with current practice: MD, WAC 246-919-850 through 246-919-985; and PA, WAC 246-918-800 through 246-918-935. Q: What happens is the MD, PA or facility does not respond to the WMC concerning my complaint?

A: Failing to cooperate with an investigation is a violation of the law. The Medical Commission can discipline a physician or physician assistant for not responding.

ABOUT THE COMMISSION 

Your WA Medical Commission (WMC) currently regulates about 34,000 licenses, more than 3,000 of which are Physician Assistants. 

The WMC is composed of 21 governor-appointed members, including:


* 13 physicians, one from each congressional district and three at-large positions
* Six public members
* Two physician assistants.

The WMC also employs staff based in Tumwater and Spokane, WA. The professional staff includes attorneys and physicians. 

EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS 

We provide speakers and subject matter experts on a variety of topics, including:
