A two-year old U.S. citizen, born in Florida to two undocumented parents, was deported by ICE alongside her parents to Brazil where she does not have legal status - leaving her without a country to call home. The 14th amendment of the Constitution grants citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the United States, making her deportation a gross violation of the constitution and basic humanity.
This isn’t the first time the Trump administration has deported children. Last month children aged 2,4, and 7 were sent to Honduras with their undocumented parents. One of the kids had cancer and was shipped away without medication.
Just weeks ago, Gov. Tim Walz got heat from the Trump administration for comparing ICE to the Gestapo - but he was right. In just the first few months of Trump’s administration, ICE has deported children with U.S. citizenship, sent unmarked cars and masked agents to arrest foreign students who protest, sent migrants with legal status to El Salvadorian torture prisons without due process, and even detained a mother moments after giving birth.
