Joni Ernst, Iowa's resident bootstraps enthusiast and insurance industry mascot, responded to concerns about gutting Medicaid with a casual shrug and the line, “We’re all going to die.” That wasn’t a nihilist poet on an absinthe bender, but a U.S. Senator justifying ripping health care from poor people and: Letting. Them. Die. Joni offered the “let ‘em die and God sort it out” rhetoric quite casually, like it was a mildly inconvenient budget line. Like how she made her sexual assault in the military, and protecting other women from the same, a key talking point in her U.S. Senate election. Only to casually decide a few years later to vote for human bobblehead Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense. A guy out of a Girls Gone Wild video who’d settled a civil suit with a woman who alleged he assaulted her, and whose own mother thought he was such a woman-abusing, dick-in-a-box she wrote a letter berating him for it. This is your Joni Ernst. This is your Joni Ernst on MAGA. Any questions? No? Good. Now, back to letting Americans—humans—die from preventable disease or injury just because you’re a fucking Republican ghoul. Sorry, no nicer way to say this, folks. It isn’t policy—it’s cruelty lacquered in faux, folksy Fox indifference. Because, MAGA’s a brain disease ever-mutating into something far worse, like watching a common cold transition into Ebola. For Ernst and her GOP pals, if you're not a donor, a defense contractor or multi-national, monopolistic corporation killing American jobs, working conditions, environment, consumers and…Americans, your suffering’s just Muzak for MAGA rallies. Grandma can’t afford her insulin? I’ll just say “We’re all going to die,” which in the pantheon of corrupt, cruel and incompetent Republican utterances to oppose a thing that saves people’s lives, may actually break records for cock-eyed, milk-livered depravity. This is who they are. Joni Ernst isn’t gaffe-ing here, she’s giving you the mission statement. The modern Republican Party doesn’t want to fix Medicaid, they want to obliterate it. Just as they want to starve children, cut over $500 billion from Medicare and make Social Security something of the past, to return to the further past where impoverished elderly Americans were reduced to surviving on cat food. All so they can provide loopholes and entitlements for Elon to get his 14th yacht, Thiel to write off his 27th house and Bezos to buy his future wife a half dozen new cyborg parts. Yes, they cheerlead tax cuts for billionaires like it’s a national pastime, then turn around and tell all other Americans that basic healthcare is a luxury the government just can’t afford—right before passing another bloated defense budget so filled with subsidies that it’s the fiscal equivalent of performing fellatio on ExxonMobil. “We’re all going to die” isn’t just a glib, grotesque dismissal of your fellow Americans—it’s the reveal of a death-cult agenda. No more euphemisms needed. Starve the poor, feed the rich and call it freedom, that’s what they’re saying out loud. Joni, you Scylla meets Spitting Cobra, you must be so very proud of yourself. 🎥 Missed yesterday’s “Amped Up w/ Cliff Schecter?” Don’t worry! We got you!
