Dear John,

As a major driver of climate change, global deforestation has significant long-term financial implications for investors. Even as the COVID-19 pandemic has throttled the global economy, deforestation continues largely unchecked in many parts of the world, and an increasing number of investors are taking action.

On July 29th, Ceres is releasing our new Investor Guide to Deforestation and Climate Change. Developed in collaboration with leading investors, this first-of-its kind engagement framework provides investors with clear guidance on how they can assess and mitigate their deforestation-driven climate risks at both the portfolio and security level.

We hope you’ll join us for this complimentary webinar on July 29th at 11:00 am ET to launch this new guide and hear from investors about why they see this as a priority issue and how they are engaging with companies to eliminate deforestation from their operations and supply chains.
Addressing Climate as a Systemic Risk
As investors address the systemic risk of climate change in their portfolios, an increasing number are taking action on deforestation as a major driver of climate change. Following last year’s devastating fires in the Amazon, 251 investors with $17.7 trillion in assets under management called on companies to eliminate deforestation from their operations and supply chains.

To support this groundswell of action, Ceres has partnered with leading investors to develop a new Investor Guide to Deforestation and Climate Change. The Guide provides investors with a framework to assess how deforestation exposes their portfolios to climate risk and key points to raise during company engagements. In this virtual launch event, investors will share key findings and discuss their climate and deforestation strategies.
