Last night, we faced a critical fundraising deadline. But with the way things were looking, we decided to extend the deadline by 24 hours to hit our goal. Let me explain what that means for our campaign:

If we miss our goal now, I’m afraid we will risk reporting weak numbers to the Federal Election Commission on June 30. And once our report goes public shortly after, everyone from our opponent to Donald Trump to Mitch McConnell will know we’re vulnerable in this race.

Any sign of weakness — like a missed fundraising goal this important! — can lead to a barrage of right-wing attacks and outside spending to defeat us. That’s on top of the millions of dollars these guys are already dumping into Senate races across the country.
