Legislative Update from Rep. Kresha

Hello Neighbors,

I hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend. I always appreciate the opportunity to spend time with family and also honor the sacrifice of the brave men and women who have fought for our freedoms. I spent part of last weekend celebrating my daughter's graduation. Congratulations to her and her fellow classmates on their recent graduation. I wish all the graduates the best of luck in their upcoming endeavors.

Back in St. Paul, negotiations have continued on most of our major bills. I am proud and excited to share that we were able to wrap up the final details on our K-12 Education bill in the last few days. Negotiations were challenging, considering the very narrow division of the House and Senate, but we were able to protect several of our key priorities. The piece that I am most proud of was our protection of non-public pupil aid funding. We held off the proposed cuts, which was a win in the fight for educational choice, which I value very highly. There are only a few bills still in the negotiation process, so we should be able to wrap up the loose ends in the coming days. I am hopeful that we can have the special session soon so that we can move on and enjoy this summer.

I will keep you updated on our special session when that does happen. Until then, keep your eye on the Little Falls Track & Field Sections meet, which started on Wednesday evening. Several of our Little Falls athletes have punched their ticket to state so far, with more competition to go. Additionally, a handful of Aitkin Track & Field athletes have also earned their bid to state this week. Best of luck to all of our state-bound track stars!
