I’m working hard on several critical priorities, and we saw a lot of action this month:
The Take It Down Act, which I introduced in the Senate, was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Trump. We’re forcing online platforms to remove nonconsensual intimate imagery within 48 hours of a request from a victim, and we’ve made the distribution of such images a crime punishable by fines or jail time.
The REINS Act, now included in the House budget bill, would prevent major regulations – anything with a compliance price tag of more than $100 million – from taking effect without being passed by Congress and signed into law by the President of the United States. The REINS Act will finally restore constitutional balance and halt bureaucratic overreach.
The Invest America Act, another piece of legislation I authored, was also included in the House budget bill. It would create private investment accounts for every American child, seeded with $1,000 when they are a newborn. When these children turn 18, they will have a resource to put to work to pursue higher education, start a business, or buy a home. If it becomes law, it will be one of our Republican Party’s landmark achievements.
I also called out National Public Radio in a big way, after President Trump issued an executive order to cut off their public funding – the time is long overdue for real accountability for these far-left propagandists posing as journalists.
And when I grilled representatives from America’s major sports leagues earlier this month, I left them knowing that fans are growing extremely frustrated with their streaming practices and for good reason. It can be next to impossible to find some games at all and many games that used to be free or easy to find are now spread across pricey apps and exclusive deals.
Our May end-of-month fundraising deadline is coming up fast at midnight tomorrow.
