Abortion Providers Will Not Comply In Advance!!
We love to write this: abortion providers in Virginia, Montana, and Kansas preemptively filed a federal lawsuit challenging the FDA's remaining restrictions on mifepristone [[link removed]] . They argue that the Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS)—an FDA drug safety protocol that bizarrely classifies abortion pills as posing a danger akin to “Fentanyl-laced Skittles”—are wildly out of step with the actual risks. This fake danger assessment creates enormous barriers for patients trying to access medication abortions, and providers are loudly calling BS to the courts to get it removed. Who knows how they will rule, but it’s a HELL YEAH from AAF on anything proactive that removes these bogus restrictions to improve access to medication abortion nationwide!
The “Big, Blistering Butthole Bill” Has Passed Like a One Ton Kidney Stone.
The 1,000+ page fever dream is full of tax cuts for the rich, attacks on immigrants, and yes, a big middle finger to abortion access [[link removed]] . If passed by the Senate, Medicaid funding will be gone for clinics that offer abortions, nearly 200 Planned Parenthood clinics will close, stricter work requirements for Medicaid eligibility will be enacted, SNAP benefits will be cut, the Hyde Amendment will be reaffirmed and, and, and… Sorry—we had to stop typing for a sec to ugly cry.

We Blew Our Noses and Are Back With the Biggest FU In This Bill.
A last-minute addition to the House-passed budget reconciliation bill prohibits Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace plans that include abortion coverage from receiving federal cost-sharing reduction (CSR) payments. Nevermind that the provision conflicts with laws in 12 states that REQUIRE plans to cover abortion services! The eventual outcome of this federal-state conflict is unclear, but what IS clear? That it’s total BULLSHIT.
