Dear Friends, Right now, Donald Trump is laying off federal employees, defunding federal programs, and eliminating grants meant for our communities. While he continues to gut these resources, my team is working hard to provide the guidance that many New Jerseyans need during this difficult period. My office is here to answer your calls, meet with you in person, or hold presentations detailing our services to communities that need them most. Read more about these presentations, some quotes from constituents, and information from my caseworkers who connect New Jerseyans with federal agencies every day. If you or a loved one are having any issues with federal agencies like the VA, Social Security, or Medicare, please reach out to my office at (973) 526-5668 or submit a form on my website, sherrill.house.gov. Mikie Sherrill Member of Congress | Supporting our Senior Community | Too often, our seniors are left needing help without knowing the resources that are available to them. That’s why my team has stopped by 8 senior organizations so far this year to explain the services our office provides. We offer assistance in both Spanish and English, so our seniors can get the help they deserve. Hear firsthand from our constituents It’s always greatly appreciated when we get feedback from constituents we’ve helped. Here are a few individuals who sent in their stories: | “I applied for Social Security benefits online a few months ago, and it was like my information fell into a black hole. I couldn't get an answer online or on the phone as to its status. (In the latter case I had to listen to the same music for hours.) On the advice of a friend, I made one phone call to Congresswoman Sherrill's office and the office called me right back. The next day Social Security called me, referencing that a congressional staffer had reached out. My application was done in minutes, and then the worker asked about whether my wife would be applying for the spousal benefit, which I hadn't even mentioned yet. Talk about constituent service. I am most impressed.” -Todd, Little Falls | “Dear Congressperson Sherrill. I wish to state that your office helped me resolve a problem with Medicare that was very difficult to resolve. Unfortunately when you deal with large bureaucracies such as Medicare you really do not get appropriate help. It is very frustrating. My last resort was to contact my congressperson and fortunately for myself I was able to speak with your office and they resolved my problem. She was always on top of her game and always assisted me.” -Ezra, Morristown | “Mikie Sherrill's office is wonderful. They helped me with a Social Security problem right away and the problem was solved the same day. Do not hesitate to call them, they are compassionate and they will help you.” -Pamela, Belleville
Hear from our Casework Team Some of our caseworkers work closely with the senior community. Here are some messages to our senior constituents from them: “Our constituents might not know when to apply for Social Security benefits, or might be stuck in the waiting process. We’re here to help move things along for them!” -Megan “I enjoy assisting our senior constituents with Medicare or IRS issues—it's always rewarding to see people get the refunds and benefits they are entitled to.” -Bethany | Sign up to receive newsletter updates! | Washington DC Office 1427 Longworth HOB Washington, DC 20515 Phone: (202) 225-5034 Fax: (202) 225-3186 | Livingston District Office 357 S.
