Hi John
If the government gets this right, we could have a healthier, more resilient and safer world than we did before. We can create a new normal where everyone's needs are met, and the climate and nature can thrive. We know that - unfortunately - many people will lose their jobs as a result of the pandemic. [1] The government has an obligation to support them, and by investing in green jobs it can do so and deal with the climate crisis at the same time. Green jobs in sustainable industries will give us the economic boost we need now, and also provide security for generations to come. It will also mean we are less reliant on the polluting fossil fuel industries which have caused so much harm to the climate.
A green recovery is the best way to do what's right for us and for the planet. The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has already said we need a "fairer, greener and more resilient economy" after Covid-19.[2] Your voice can make sure those words are followed by action. If you sign the petition and get the word out, thousands more people will sign and we can create a powerful people-powered force that will put real pressure on the government to make the right call. Please tell the government to invest in hundreds of thousands of green jobs, so we can build the future we deserve.
Thank you for all that you do, Alia PS - we have written a manifesto on how the government can implement a green recovery. If you want to see the details you can read them here [1] How a green recovery could solve the post-coronavirus employment crisis [2] Boris Johnson: 'We owe it to future generations to build back better' | |||
