Dear Neighbor,
This Memorial Day weekend, I joined communities across NJ’s 6th district to remember the brave Americans who gave their lives in service to our country. From New Brunswick to Bradley Beach to Edison, I marched alongside veterans, residents, and local leaders who all gathered to pay tribute. These parades reflect the deep respect and pride we feel for those who served. I am proud to represent a district whose residents show up year after year to honor our heroes. Thank you to everyone who helped make these events so meaningful.
Relief for Sandy Survivors
Hundreds of Superstorm Sandy survivors in New Jersey will no longer have to repay federal disaster aid. Many were wrongly told they owed tens of thousands of dollars after following government advice to rebuild. After years of work, I helped secure changes to federal rules so these families can finally move on. So far, over 400 households are expected to see more than 16 million dollars in relief. This is about fairness and helping people who were hit hardest by the storm. Read more here.
Keeping Our Beaches Clean and Safe
Our beaches are a big part of what makes summer in New Jersey so special. That is why I helped secure $266,000 to monitor water quality and alert the public when swimming is not safe. This funding will help keep beachgoers healthy and protect the local economy. I have been promoting this program for many years and am working now to update it so we can also track where pollution comes from. Read more here.
Honoring Jewish War Veterans
During Jewish American Heritage Month, I introduced a congressional resolution to honor the Jewish War Veterans of the United States. This group was started by Jewish Civil War veterans in 1896 and is still going strong today. They have defended our country and worked to make sure their service is remembered and respected. They also help support military families and teach the public about antisemitism and the Holocaust. My resolution makes sure Congress recognizes their leadership and supports their 129 years of work. Fighting for Public Health Programs
I am demanding answers from Trump’s Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. after he cut thousands of public health jobs and shut down important programs. These cuts hurt services that help 9/11 responders, protect food safety, seniors, people with HIV, and New Jerseyans who need help with energy bills. So far, the Department has refused to explain what is happening or why. I am pushing for public testimony from Secretary Kennedy so Americans can hear directly how these changes will affect their lives. Our public health system matters, and we need transparency and accountability.
