When one African woman rises, she lifts others with her.
“I’m passionate about helping others,” Tigist says. “I want to share the training I’ve received to empower others to experience the same change in their lives.”
For years, Tigist and her family lived on the edge. Her husband’s full-time wage barely covered rent, so she walked long distances each day to collect and sell firewood – each step exposing her to the threat of violence and exhaustion.
Trapped by poverty, she had no other choice.
Tigist’s life changed after joining our Sewing Skills for Vulnerable Women program in Ethiopia. Today, she runs a beauty salon, teaches tailoring and provides for her family.
