John,

For months, we’ve had to watch as rising costs were being passed onto consumers – at a cost of $1,200 per household – and Trump, a man who brags about multiple houses and gold-plated furniture, had the nerve to tell us that we didn’t need any more dolls. That whatever we got was enough.

For one moment, we had relief: Donald Trump’s tariffs looked like they were back on the shelf. Only now they've been temporarily reinstated after the administration’s appeal.

Trump’s fiscal actions are reckless and unauthorized. And this break had finally, momentarily, given our economy – and the working class families that make it thrive – a chance to breathe.

While this was a major win in the courts, we need to make sure we have the right person in Sacramento to work around Trump’s terrible decisions and keep putting working families first.

Let’s not forget: Congressional Republicans could have stopped this anytime they want. They just needed to stand up to Trump. Since they won’t stand up to Trump, I will -- just as I did as Controller. On tariffs, wealth transfers, and anything else he pushes that will hurt California.

With this administration constantly attacking working families, it’s crucial that California’s next Governor knows the ins and outs of our state finances to outmaneuver Trump. If you’re ready for that fighter, I could use your support: Chip in $3 today.
