Over the past day, federal courts have blocked – and then reinstated! – Trump’s reckless tariffs on dozens of countries.

At a time when too many people are already struggling with high grocery prices, Trump’s tariffs have hurt families and endangered small and mid-sized farmers, worsening our nation’s farm crisis.

Now, as litigation over Trump’s tariffs plays out in court, we need Congress to intervene. Send a message to demand that Congress revoke Trump’s tariffs now!

Tariffs aren’t all bad. They can be a useful policy tool for creating domestic jobs and defending labor rights across borders — but tariffs only work when they’re paired with policies at home that grow U.S. industries, and when they are carefully targeted.

That’s not what Trump is doing at all.

Trump’s impulsive, across-the-board approach will lead to higher prices for everyday people, especially for goods that simply can’t be produced at scale in the U.S. — like bananas and coffee.

Even worse, Trump’s reckless behavior is inciting a trade war, with other countries retaliating with tariffs on U.S. goods, which can be devastating to small and mid-sized farms and other small businesses.

Meanwhile, Trump is using the threat of tariffs to push for more U.S. fossil fuel exports, especially fracked gas. If Congress doesn’t act now, the damage could be even worse.

Since taking office, Trump has made a series of erratic and arbitrary announcements about tariffs — first imposing, then revoking, and then imposing again. This chaos is damaging to the economy and will be used by big corporations to increase consumer prices.

If allowed to move forward, Trump’s tariffs are estimated to lead to thousands of dollars in higher costs for families. They’ll raise the cost of food three times higher than last year’s inflation.

While Trump’s tariffs get sorted out in court, Congress can take action to rescind them. It’s clear that Trump can’t be trusted to protect our economy or our families.
