Dear John:

This Friday is Juneteenth, a day that honors Black freedom and Black resistance, and honors Black people’s unique contribution to the struggle for justice in the United States. This Juneteenth weekend, People’s Action members nationwide will rally with our allies in defense of Black lives. We’re fighting for a country that protects peace and safety for Black people, for all people. We’re demanding an end to racism, police brutality, poverty, and inequality.

Sign up for Juneteenth events to support the Movement for Black Lives.

The events this weekend are part of the largest protest wave in U.S. history. From Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Harlan, Kentucky, to Decatur, Indiana, people of every race, every gender, and every generation are standing up because we believe that Black lives matter, and we’re tired of police and public officials treating them like they are disposable.

The people standing up to defend Black lives and against police brutality are people just like you and me. Young and old. Black, white, and brown. We are tired of seeing police kill people and politicians rig the rules to let them do it, just like they rig the rules against working people and blame Black people and other people of color for our hard times.

We hope you’ll join us this weekend.

In solidarity,

Bree Carlson
