I’ll be honest: last week, we lost a battle against President Trump’s cruel, absurdly-named “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.” Now, this travesty of a bill has moved on to the Senate. The right wing effort to steal healthcare and nutrition benefits from children and seniors to benefit the wealthiest Americans passed the House by one single vote.
I’m going to level with you, this vote shouldn’t have happened. But there was a reason they called for a 1am debate and vote – they know that no one elected by the American people should have allowed a bill that takes health care away from seniors and steals food from children to even reach the House floor.
We lost this battle in the House, but we will not lose the war. November 2026 is coming fast, and we are emboldened to take this majority back. Are you with us?
Next month, all Democrats face a public Federal Elections Commission public filing, and we are getting a head start to make sure we send a clear, united message that the GOP’s days in the majority are numbered. Join us.
Today, I’m thinking back to 2017 — I was serving in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and Donald Trump was in the White House. Republicans held congressional majorities, and they were laser-focused on repealing the Affordable Care Act (stealing healthcare from the poor to give tax cuts to the wealthy is a pattern for them).
The bill to repeal Americans' healthcare passed the House, and the decision came down to one late night vote in the Senate. After Americans across the nation made their voices heard, Senator John McCain cast a decisive vote to protect our healthcare. A wave of Democrats — myself included — took the House the next year.
Sometimes history repeats itself. Can you contribute today to help us protect our healthcare, one more time?
