Hi John,
Oregon's Bottle Bill is iconic. Since 1971 it has helped Oregon achieve record recycling outcomes while keeping our beaches, parks, and waterways free of littered beverage containers. Last year, Oregonians redeemed more than 2 billion aluminum, plastic, and glass beverage containers. Not only does the Bottle Bill keep beverage containers from being littered—it also makes sure they are recycled. 100% of Oregon's Bottle Bill containers are recycled domestically, with much of that material used to make new beverage containers.
But now the Bottle Bill is facing a dangerous threat—one that will directly harm a piece of the environmental legacy put in place by former Governor Tom McCall. The Legislature and Governor Kotek are considering taking the Bottle Bill's unclaimed refunds to fund wildfire management. This disastrous proposal would gut the Bottle Bill's most popular programs like Green Bag accounts and BottleDrop Give fundraising for Oregon nonprofits. These programs have had a direct link to the success of our Bottle Bill and are the reason Oregon continues to have the highest redemption rate in the nation.
Tell the Legislature and the Governor: hands off the Bottle Bill! Will you send your message today [[link removed]]?

It is critical that they hear from you to stop this proposal from moving forward. Please send your message to your representatives and the Governor today [[link removed]]
