Dr. Tanya Haj-Hassan joined my Coffee and Column gathering yesterday to discuss the trauma of children in Gaza and how little attention is being paid to the long-term consequences of this genocide. As I'm sure you have seen in viral clips and interviews over the past few months, Tanya is a pediatric intensive care doctor working with Doctors Without Borders and has spent months volunteering in hospitals across Gaza. Her work is inspiring and sadly more needed than ever as Israel continues its horrific genocide on the people of Gaza.

I am sharing our conversation with you. Tanya shared some incredibly traumatic stories, that though painful to hear, should not be ignored. (If you would like to skip over my introductory remarks to hear Dr. Haj-Hassan immediately start the video at 12:00) I also discussed this trauma in my column this week.

As Israel continues to freely bomb, attack, and starve the people of Gaza, it seems the world (especially our own country) can only offer softball statements criticizing Israel's actions. More must be done and pressure on our elected officials to condemn the Israeli government's war crimes must increase. If you can, please forward Tanya's words to your members of Congress and their staff. They should be aware of the trauma that will be faced by generations of Palestinians because of our unqualified support for Israel's genocide. The children of Gaza must not be forgotten.
