Overdose Deaths Are Down — But the Crisis Isn’t Over
In 2024, overdose deaths dropped nearly 25%. A major reason? Naloxone
(Narcan) — the lifesaving drug that reverses opioid overdoses. It’s
saved thousands, thanks in part to a federal grant that trained
66,000 responders and distributed 282,000 kits to them nationwide.
Now that funding is on the chopping block. Trump’s latest budget
slashes the Dept. of Health and Human Services by $40b, threatening
the very program that helped bring deaths down.
Don’t let progress be undone. Tell Congress to keep naloxone in the
hands of first responders.

Earlier this month, Congress proposed a new budget plan that would
cause millions of Americans to lose Medicaid coverage, make
healthcare less affordable, and completely scrap almost all of the
environmental progress that has been recently made. Specifically, the
reconciliation bill presents a whole host of rollbacks that will
destroy our green infrastructure advancements including phasing out
clean energy tax credits, slashing government support for electric
vehicles and renewable energy, and drastically scaling back other
climate-related funds.
These cuts are going to do nothing but harm our communities and
endanger our climate.
