Good morning! |
We hope you are enjoying AJC Virtual Global Forum 2020. |
Today’s first program will kick off at 12:00 pm ET (18:00 Berlin, 19:00 Jerusalem) with two insightful conversations with world leaders:
- In “Greece, Israel, and the Eastern Mediterranean,” Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Greece, will be in conversation with AJC CEO David Harris to discuss the democratic alliance in the Eastern Mediterranean among Greece, Cyprus, and Israel, and the importance of expanding that vital strategic partnership, among other issues. Mitsotakis is wise, thoughtful, and eloquent.
- Did you know that Albania was the only Nazi-occupied country in Europe to have a larger Jewish population at the war’s end than at the start? Tune in for “Albania: An Inspiring Story,” a conversation with Edi Rama, Prime Minister of Albania, to learn more about one of Europe’s most pro-U.S. and pro-Israel countries, which suffered mightily during the communist era. You will find in Rama a wide-ranging intellect and thought-provoking speaker.

You won’t want to miss our 3:00 pm ET (21:00 Berlin, 22:00 Jerusalem) session, which will be a truly historic moment on the AJC Virtual Global Forum stage. |
In this must-watch conversation, “Toward a New Middle East,” Dr. Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, will detail his nation’s efforts to promote regional stability and interfaith cooperation. |

Yesterday we heard from Benjamin (Benny) Gantz, Alternate Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Israel, who discussed the most pressing challenges and greatest opportunities facing the Jewish state during the Harriette Levine Memorial Program. Heiko Maas, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany, also addressed AJC Virtual Global Forum, with important messages on Israel, antisemitism, and the Iranian threat. |
Later on, we held our second Virtual Global Forum debate, "The Future of the West Bank: Two Israeli Perspectives,” a spirited discussion on whether Israel should extend its sovereignty to parts of the West Bank, featuring Member of Knesset Merav Michaeli (Labor) and veteran Israeli diplomat and current President of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs Ambassador Dore Gold. |
